Capitalized or not, one thing is for sure: the more we talk about startup the fewer startups.
When talking about a business from first thought to first sale are we talking about a startup or a start-up? AP Style book says startup, Websters say startup. Looking at this ngram analysis by Google for the use of the word in book, magazine articles, and titles (capitalized) this is how we have been talking about new businesses, campaigns, and projects since 1940, the hughe change came after WWII.
