Today we are all Obamiacs.

Let's give him a chance.

It may be that Pres. Obama can use his great popularity to accomplish things for the grassroots in business and politics a Republican could never have.

We'll see.

    Not all -- yet.

    When everyone is X-iac,
it is the worst type of tyranny.

  2. Are there moments that we are all, except perhaps the most cynical, united in hope?

The birth of a child, a sunrise, a new administration would seem to be such moments to me.

    John,

It never occurred to me to put birth of a child, sunrise and change in administration of any sort into the same row.

If hopes to be entertained at all,
they should not be vested into a political institution. Whenever masses of people vested hopes for a better life into a political institution, they were exploited by that institution -- in the best case scenario.

  4. There are times for hope and times for criticism in every part of life.

Why wouldn't the birth of a child, a sunrise, and the start of a new administration (or business, or friendship, or conversation) be a valid set, with hope as the common feature?

Problem comes when there is ONLY hope. Hope without action is dead.
