JANUARY 17 BEN FRANKLIN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION IN DENVER.
Denver—Ben Franklin’s 307th birthday is being celebrated by the Small Business Chamber. William F Robinson III, principle in Robinson & Robinson, oldest law firm in Colorado, will speak on “Franklin’s meeting with Adam Smith, publication of The Wealth of Nations in 1776, and the impact on the US Constitution.” Free if you join the group in January for just $1.50 per month (to be increased $1 each month) see: http://Meetup.com/Small-Biz-Chamber For sponsorship opportunities call John Wren (303)861-1447
“We
hope to have Ben Franklin with us. If so, we’ll start a new tradition of
parents bringing their children to have their picture taken with Ben just like
they do at Christmas with Santa,” said John Wren announcing the event.
“After
the birthday cake, I’m going to make a major announcement about the future
direction of the Small Business Chamber. Right now it’s really just me and a
hand full of volunteers, that’s about to change. We’ve just become a member of
the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry and will be offering
train-the-trainer online seminars to the CACI small business chamber members
across Colorado. One topic will be the importance of advertising in local
community newspapers, a seminar I conducted when I was sales manager for
Sentinel Newspapers when they were owned by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
“We
will also announce high school writing and art contests at the meeting, and
there may be a couple of surprises,” said Wren at the group’s Denver IDEA Salon
meeting at Panera Bread.
