Proposed 12-Step Recovery Meeting Format To Help Focus.

BSers Anonymous Meeting Format,

2nd Draft  7/8/23

[Note from Chat GPT: Please be aware that the term "bullshitter" may be considered vulgar or offensive to some individuals. I advise using discretion and considering alternative terms when implementing this format.]

Welcome:

Facilitator: "Welcome to this meeting of the (Name of Group) group of BSers Anonymous. My name is [Name], and I'm a BSer. I'll be your facilitator for today's meeting. Our primary purpose here is to stop Bull Shitting (BSing) and to help others to stop BSing, too.

Before we begin, let's take a moment to read a passage from Harry Frankfurt's book, 'On Bullshit,' and recite together the modified 12 Steps of Bullshitters Anonymous."

Reading from "On Bullshit”: Facilitator: "[Choose an appropriate passage from Harry Frankfurt's book 'On Bullshit' that sheds light on the topic and stimulates discussion.]"

Reciting the 12 Steps of BSers Anonymous:

Facilitator: "Now, let's recite the modified 12 Steps of BSers Anonymous together.

  1. We admitted we are powerless over BSing and our lives had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand God.
  4. Made a searching and thorough moral inventory of ourselves
  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  6. Were entirely ready to have God remove these defects of character.
  7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when doing so would injure them or others.
  10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understand God, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out. or other practices to improve our conscious contact with honesty and truthfulness, praying only for knowledge of the difference between BS and truth and for the strength to choose the latter.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other BSers and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Announcements.

Open Discussion:

Facilitator: "Now, let's open the floor for discussion of our experience with these steps in our recovery from BSing. Please raise your hand, and I'll call on you. Remember to be respectful of others' opinions."

[Allow participants to share their thoughts, experiences, and insights, fostering an open and supportive dialogue.]

Closing:

Facilitator: "Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and experiences today. Remember, we are here to support one another in our journey towards sanity. Let's continue turning our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand God. Our next meeting will be on [date] at [time], and we hope to see all of you fellow BSers there. Until then, stay committed to stop BSing and supporting others in their efforts to do doing the same."
