Startup advice from 1st Christian:

Startups Try Harder.

I wrote this as a staff member of the' 65 Denver Thomas Jefferson High School yearbook, 5 years before Robert Townsend wrote the best selling "Up the Organization" about learning in 2nd place. "We try harder" is how CEO Townsend put it in the headlines of the ads for his #2 Avis (Hertz was #1 in market share.)

But throws fall short,
And scores come too late,
All teams can't finish first.
Learning is second place.

How should we pray?

LORD'S PRAYER, THE:

Name given by the Christian world to the prayer which Jesus taught his disciples (Matt. vi. 9-13; Luke xi. 1-4). According to Luke the teaching of the prayer was suggested by one of Jesus' disciples who, on seeing him holding communion with God in prayer, asked him to teach them also to pray, as John the Baptist had similarly taught his disciples a certain form of

Where were you in 1992?

Reading about Julia Cameron in today's New York Times Style Section  it's worth reading. Her Artist's Way first printing sold out the first day when it was published in 1992, makes me think back to what I was doing then, and why I instantly disliked her and the book she rode in on.

In 1992 I was living with Fr. David Morgan's Center for Christ Centered Ministries with a room mate who eventually was killed bicycling through France. For years I'd held what came to be called the IDEA Association, and I intended to hold it there.

The IDEA Association grew out of a TV and radio show I had back then which I started just after Janet left me with 4 kids and a note

My last bible study with Fr. Bruce.

Friday 4 January https://pray-as-you-go.org/player/prayer/2019-01-04 #Prayasyougo

Fr. Bruce Youngquist was an Episcopal priest who was ordained at Christ Church in Denver when Fr. David Wilson was the pastor.

Fr. Bruce had been an Intervarsity organizer for decades, starting bible studies on scores of college campuses.

I had the great privalage of being in a small group he and his wife Jo led at Christ Church and then again at St. Gabriel's Church. He helped me start a bible study in downtown Denver when I was working at Mountain Bell.

This was the text in one of the very last sessions I participated in with Fr. Bruce, in a home in Cherry Hills owned by a couple from England who attended St. Gabriel, where we all were members at the time.

St. Stephen a Success?

Perfect icon for me today, St. Stephen who was stoned to death as St. Paul watched.

Somewhere Shakespeare tells us in one of his plays (Hamlet?) to "count no man happy until he is dead." I've had times where things were going well, everyone seemed to be for whatever it was I was doing. Not like that right now.

More on Startup Show in just a few minutes, on each day Monday thru Saturday if you "Visit Group" on www.Facebook.com/Small.Business.Chamber and join us now while it's still free.
